Instructions for abstract submissions

Abstract submission is closed since July 1^st, 2025

The abstract selection for short oral presentations and the poster award are reserved for young researchers.

Abstracts must meet the following conditions:

• Abstracts must be in English
• File extension has to be .doc or .docx
• File size may not exceed 3000 kb
• Abstract title can be maximum two lines.
• Use an asterix in superscript to indicate the person who will be presenting the poster
• The length of the abstract is limited to one page only this taking in account the page and style format as shown in the example abstract.
• The abstract must contain the following sections:
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion and references.

Poster specifications: A0 format (84x118cm)

Deadline of Abstract submission: June 30^th, 2025. (Abstract changes will no longer be accepted after August 4^th, 2025)

Short oral presentations about the posters

During the conference, short presentations about the posters will be given. If you like to give a short presentation please mention this in the email with your abstract to bsfm@ilvo.vlaanderen.be.

Selection is based on the submitted abstracts on June 30^th, 2025.

The short presentations will be in Dutch, French or English. The slides to the presentation must be in English. Duration will be maximum 10 minutes followed by a 5 minute discussion. If selected a notification will be send Mid August, 2025.

BSFM Poster Award Excellence in Food Microbiology research

Selection of the best poster on Food Microbiology - Awarded by BSFM - 1000 euro (can be used for participation to an international conference + free access to the 30^th CFM of BSFM in 2026). The winner will be announced at the start on Friday afternoon.
